Are You Cut Out to be a Holistic Practitioner?

The world is changing, instead of static employment many are opting for greater flexibility to run their own businesses. People as individuals in an increasingly insecure market are taking control of their future by building a career path as an independent professional. The free lance business is booming so why exactly is the holistic practitioner missing out?

Is it a lack of market demand holding up the holistic practitioner?

There isn’t a lack of market demand for holistic practitioners even in what is described across the media as very limiting times. People are increasingly stressed, busy, and isolated. They are looking for connection, treatments, and genuine support. They don’t want to bow to what feels like a pressure into visiting the metaphorical ‘funny farm’. They want to feel protected, reassured and are willing to spend their hard earned cash to acquire it.

The real reason most holistic practitioners are held back

I have heard on countless occasions of holistic practitioners complaining of a lack of clients and the ability to acquire them. “They just are not there Heidi.” This is I have to say, an excuse. In times of difficulty and uncertainty, is exactly when people need the services of a holistic practitioner, whether that be a healer, life coach, Reiki practitioner, beauty therapist, intuitive or psychic.

The true issue holding back holistic practitioners is their lack of knowledge on how to present themselves to their potential client base.

In their normal every day jobs they have no trouble informing their customers or selling their wares to potential clients. As soon though as they put on their ‘holistic practitioner hat’ they become a gibbering wreck, who can’t possibly express how good they are, in case it sounds big headed. As far as charging people is concerned, they become hopelessly incompetent and self-hypnotise themselves into believing they can survive on fresh air alone.

“I couldn’t possibly charge, it’s a gift”. I am sure the world over many an employer would love for you to offer your services in working environments as a ‘gift’; they would be most grateful. The fact is people expect to pay for a service, when they receive it. Given for nothing they don’t respect it, they see it as having little to no value, unless of course it’s a charity. Are you are charity?
